The East Brunswick Public School system is considered to be one of New Jersey's finest. As of 2014 there are more than 8,500 students served in 8 elementary schools, 2 junior high schools and one high school.   Over 90% of its high school graduates go on to higher education studies. The high school has been named a Star School by the State of New Jersey.

The Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital & Saint Peters Medical Center are both major hospitals that are within 6 miles of East Brunswick.  Rutgers University is also about a 6 mile drive and Princeton University is about 20 miles away to the southwest.  Great beaches, entertainment and dining are only about a half hour drive away to the New Jersey shore communities.  A little further away, but still a day trip, Atlantic City is always a fun place to go for unique venues.  Newark International Airport (now Newark Liberty International) is about 25 miles away and is accessible by car, bus or train.

Recreational offerings are diverse and include Crystal Springs Aquatic Facility, a blue water swimming area with a lazy river, Olympic size lap pool, several wading pools, and a water slide. The township also has two private swim clubs, many tennis courts, five private health clubs, two 18-hole golf courses, and fourteen public parks on 600 acres.  A community theater group, Playhouse 22, performs major Broadway shows and children's shows.

The East Brunswick Public Library is the busiest municipal library in the state of New Jersey.  It has achieved national recognition for the quality of its collections, programs and services to the community. The Library also operates its own municipal cable television station that produces over 200 original programs each year as well as a Community Bulletin Board that updates subscribers on township news and activities of community organizations.
