Four Fun Activities at The Watershed Center

A common theme in today's world is a desire to reconnect with nature. Some people take this to the extreme by hiking mountain ranges, while others are satisfied with a simple trip to the local park. If you've been looking for something to scratch that nature itch, look no further than The Watershed Center in Pennington! The Watershed Center represents an important piece in the overall effort to conserve the area's ecological health and beauty for future generations. Keep reading to learn about four fun activities happening before the end of July at the center!

Butterfly House Tour July 25

For just $5 per person, you can enjoy a guided tour of The Watershed Center's butterfly house with one the center's naturalists/teachers. The tour runs from 11 a.m. to noon on Monday, July 25 and may involve an outdoor butterfly hunt if time allows. Either way, be sure to bring your camera and a water bottle. Registration is suggested, but not required. The event is open to adults and families.

Habitat Hunters July 27

Join Naturalist Vicky Allen on an outdoor trek to explore The Watershed Reserve's unique habitats! The first meeting in a three-part series is happening on Wednesday, July 27 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Each class is $12 per child for a member ($18 for a non-member) or $30 for the entire series ($45 for non-member). Each part of the series will occur weekly on Wednesdays through August 10.

Fairy Festival July 30

On Saturday, July 30, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the Fairy Festival will be taking over the Watershed Reserve! According to their website, attendees will "dance around the maypole, create magical crafts, construct villages along the Fairy Trail, and play in the stream with the Water Sprites!" Sounds like quite the party! Registration (and fairy garb) are requested, but not required. This event is for families. Attendance is $10 per person, but children under 3 are free.

Moth Mania July 30

That Saturday after the Fairy Festival, come back to The Watershed Center at 8:30 p.m. to learn all about moths! The evening will start with a quick explanation of what makes moths different from butterflies, followed by an outdoor mothing adventure! Moth specialists will guide you on your moth hunt and show you the best techniques for mothing. Be sure to register and bring a flashlight! This event is for adults and families (children 6+ years) and costs $10 per person ($15 for non-members).
